- The office of Marshal of the Kingdom of Portugal (Marechal do Reino de Portugal, sometimes Mariscal) was created by King Ferdinand I of Portugal in 1382, in the course of the reorganization of the higher offices of the army of the Kingdom of Portugal. The Marshal was directly subordinate to the Constable of Portugal (Condestável), being principally responsible for the high administrative matters, including the quartering of troops, supplies and other logistical matters. was appointed the first Marshal of the Kingdom in 1382. The office then passed to his son-in-law, , and was maintained within the Coutinho family (see Counts of Marialva) until the Iberian Union of 1580. After the 1640 restoration of Portugal, the office was resurrected by King João IV of Portugal and the Algarves, and maintained for a few more years. The following is the list of title-holders. Il Maresciallo era direttamente subordinato al Conestabile del Portogallo (in portoghese Condestável), ed era principalmente responsabile delle alte questioni amministrative, incluso l'alloggiamento delle truppe, i rifornimenti e altre questioni logistiche. Gonçalo Vasques de Azevedo fu il primo Maresciallo del Regno nel 1382. - O cargo de Marechal de Portugal ou Marechal do Reino foi criado pelo Rei D. Fernando I em 1382, na sequência da reorganização do alto comando dos exércitos. O Marechal estava directamente subordinado ao Condestável de Portugal, sendo responsável pelos alojamentos das tropas e por outras funções logísticas. As suas funções equivaliam às do actual Quartel-Mestre-General do Exército. O cargo foi primeiro atribuído no ano seguinte de 1383 a Gonçalo Vasques de Azevedo, passando depois para o marido da sua filha, Gonçalo Vasques Coutinho, mantendo-se, depois na família. O cargo deixou de ser atribuído depois da união dinástica em 1580. Depois da Restauração da Independência em 1640 o cargo foi recriado durante alguns anos. Segue-se a lista dos titulares do cargo.
