- Maria war eine japanische J-Pop-Girlgroup, die 2006 von Maiko (Gesang, Bass), Aika (Gesang, Bass), Ayuka (Gitarre), Sacchin (Gitarre), Reina (Keyboards, Violine) sowie Tattsu (Schlagzeug) ins Leben gerufen wurde. Sie löste sich 2010 auf. Maiko hatte zuvor schon erste musikalische Erfahrungen bei ZONE gesammelt gehabt und wurde dadurch dann auch gewissermaßen das Aushängeschild der Band. Ihre ersten Singles fanden dann auch verstärkt Einsatz in Animes. Ihr Debüt Chiisana Uta wurde die Titelmelodie zu Yakitate!! Japan, die zweite Single Tsubomi war das Titelthema zum 3. Naruto-Film, die dritte Single Heart Beat Titelthema für , während ihre letzte Single Kanashimi Rensa die Titelmelodie des Anime zu Valkyria Chronicles wurde. Nachdem sie schon über ein Jahr zusammen waren, folgte schließlich mit You Go! We Are Maria das erste Album. Dieses enthielt neben der Audio-CD noch eine DVD mit Liveaufnahmen und Videoclips. (de)
- MARIA es una banda japonesa de J-Rock conformada de 6 mujeres, y contratadas bajo el sello Sony Music Entertainment Japan, y fue conocida principalmente porque era el proyecto que la exintegrante de la banda relativamente popular ZONE, Maiko, regresaba a la música. Con su estilo de Rock, la banda ha marcado una nueva incursión en el género al presentar dos bajistas, dos guitarristas y dos vocalistas, lo que le da aún más potencia a su música. MARIA debutó como tal en el año 2006 con su sencillo "Chiisa na Uta", el cual fue utilizado como opening de la serie de anime llamada Yakitate!! Japan. El segundo sencillo de la banda, "Tsubomi", también participó al interior de animaciones japonesas, esta vez para la película de la popular serie Naruto. - Maria (stylized as MARIA) was an all female Japanese pop rock band signed onto Sony Music Japan. The band consists of six members. They released their first single on March 8, 2006, titled "Chiisa na Uta". This song is used as the 3rd opening song of the anime Yakitate!! Japan. Also, their single Tsubomi is used as the theme song of Naruto the Movie 3: Guardians of the Crescent Moon Kingdom, and their single Heartbeat was used as an opening theme song of the anime Deltora Quest. In 2006 came out their first album, entitled "You Go!: We Are Maria", but their popularity really came to raise after "Tsubomi" single release. In 2008, though, Maria came out with their first DVD, featuring a live tour for the first album, and was entitled "Maria Live Tour - We Are Maria 2007", which reached the height of 30th place in Oricon parade. Maria disbanded in 2010 due to Tattsu's thoracic outlet syndrome, which made it impossible for her to continue playing. Rather than continue with a replacement, they let their contract with Sony lapse. (en)
