- Der Mannheimer Hafen ist einer der bedeutendsten Binnenhäfen Europas. Er umfasst 2.679.000 m² Wasserfläche sowie 8.635.000 m² an Land. Knapp 500 Unternehmen mit 20.000 Arbeitsplätzen sind im Hafengebiet angesiedelt. Mannheim eröffnete 1968 das erste Containerterminal in einem Binnenhafen. Hinzu kommt eine Roll-on-Roll-off-Anlage (RoRo) und seit 1991 ein Terminal für kombinierten Verkehr. 2014 wurden wasserseitig 8,45 Millionen Tonnen Güter umgeschlagen. Der Containerverkehr stieg gegenüber dem Vorjahr um 2,64 % auf 1,39 Mio. t. Der wasserseitige Containerverkehr betrug 140.823 TEU (Standard-Container). An der RoRo-Anlage wurden 16.904 Fahrzeuge umgeschlagen. 2016 wurden wasserseitig 8,6 Mio. t Güter umgeschlagen.2019 wurden wasserseitig 7,8 Mio. t Güter umgeschlagen. Die Hauptumschlagsarten waren hier feste mineralische Brennstoffe (2,2 Mio. t), Nahrungs- und Futtermittel (1,6 Mio. t) sowie chemische Erzeugnisse (2016: 1,03 Mio. t). (de)
- Mannheim Harbour, named Rhein-Neckar-Hafen Mannheim, is a river port on the Rhine in Mannheim, at the confluence of the Rhine and the Neckar in Baden-Wurttemberg. It consists out of 4 main harbour areas Handelshafen, Rheinauhafen, Altrheinhafen and Industriehafen, which are divided into 14 single harbour basins and 3 river docks. It is one of the most important inland ports in Europe. The port covers 3.42 km² of water (2.83 km² Rhine, 0.59 km² Neckar) and 8.635 km² of dockland. The total land area covered from the harbour is about 11.31 km² and it is the biggest inland port in Germany based on this measure. The Rhein-Neckar-Hafen Mannheim reflects a trimodal transport node at the junction of road and rail inks and two national waterways and offers various transhipment facilities. The 4 main harbour areas have overnight rail connections to all German and many important European commercial centres and it can be accessed by road via several main motorways. (en)
