- La manca (plural: mancae) és l'estadi juvenil post-larval en alguns crustacis. L'estadi de la manca és la característica definitòria d'un clade anomenat Mancoida que comprèn tots els membres del Peracarida, excepte l'Amphipoda. Les mancae s'assembla molt a la forma adulta, però per l'absència de l'últim parell de pereiopodis. - The manca (plural: mancae) is the post-larval juvenile in some crustaceans. The manca stage is the defining characteristic of a clade called Mancoida which comprises all the member of the Peracarida except the Amphipoda. Mancae closely resemble the adult form, but for the absence of the last pair of pereiopods. In some isopods, specifically the family Gnathiidae, the manca stage is a parasite of fish, and is also known as the praniza. (en)
- Een manca is een post-larvale juveniel bij peracaride kreeftachtigen. De larven van deze groep worden in een broedbuidel meegedragen door het vrouwtje. Voordat ze worden vrijgelaten vervellen ze tot het zogenaamde manca-stadium. Ze zien er dan uit als miniatuurtjes van de volwassen dieren maar het laatste paar pereopoden (looppootjes) ontbreekt nog. Dat laatste paar pootjes komt er na één tot drie vervellingen bij.Vlokreeftjes zijn de enige orde binnen de Peracarida waarbij het manca-stadium niet voorkomt. Bij sommige isopoden (visluizen, familie Cymothoidae) is het manca-stadium parasitair op vissen. In dit geval wordt de manca ook wel praniza genaamd. (nl)
