- The Lyric Symphony (German: Lyrische Symphonie), Op. 18, was composed by Alexander von Zemlinsky between 1922 and 1923 and received its premiere in Prague on June 4, 1924, under the composer's direction. The work is in seven connected movements and is scored for baritone and soprano soloists and a large orchestra. The sung texts are taken from The Gardener by Rabindranath Tagore in a German translation by Hans Effenberger. The movements are:
* Ich bin friedlos, ich bin durstig nach fernen Dingen ("I am restless. I am athirst for far-away things")
* O Mutter, der junge Prinz ("O mother, the young Prince")
* Du bist die Abendwolke ("You are the evening cloud")
* Sprich zu mir Geliebter ("Speak to me, my love")
* Befrei mich von den Banden deiner Süße, Lieb ("Release me from the bonds of your sweetness, Love")
* Vollende denn das letzte Lied ("Then finish the last song")

- La Symphonie lyrique op. 18, écrite par Alexander von Zemlinsky en 1922, est l'œuvre la plus connue du compositeur. La première eut lieu à Prague le 4 juin 1924. Titre original, en allemand : Lyrische Symphonie in sieben Gesängen nach Gedichten von Rabindranath Tagore für Orchester, eine Sopran- und eine Baritonstimme (Symphonie lyrique en sept chants d'après des poèmes de Rabindranath Tagore, pour orchestre, une voix de soprane et une voix de baryton). Il s'agit d'une suite symphonique et vocale en sept parties, pour baryton et soprano alternés, chacune débutant par un épisode orchestral, introduisant un chant (un Lied) basé sur des textes de Rabindranath Tagore. Chaque Lied est uni au précédent par un interlude à l'orchestre. Partition post-romantique, c'est aussi une œuvre du XXe siècle. Expressionniste, elle reste tonale, ce qui permet de la rapprocher d'autres musiques d'Europe centrale (Autriche-Hongrie), d'époques immédiatement précédentes, comme les cycles de Lieder de Gustav Mahler (en particulier, selon les dires de l'auteur, Das Lied von der Erde : Le Chant de la terre), ou, plus directement liée à Zemlinsky, La Nuit transfigurée, poème symphonique pour ensemble instrumental d'Arnold Schoenberg (première manière, 1899) et même Le Château de Barbe-Bleue, opéra de chambre pour soprano et basse, de Béla Bartók (1911). - 『抒情交響曲』（ドイツ語: Lyrische Symphonie）作品18は、アレクサンダー・ツェムリンスキーが1922年に作曲した声楽つき交響曲である。1924年にプラハで初演された。ツェムリンスキーの代表作の一つである。交響曲、協奏曲、カンタータ、オペラといったジャンルが綜合された作品であり、新旧のさまざまな音楽語法（調性、旋法、複調、無調）が援用されている。 グスタフ・マーラーの『大地の歌』と同じく、アジアの詩に曲付けされており、2人の歌手が歌い交わす体裁をとる。ただしマーラー作品では漢詩が使われ、男女もしくは男声同士のどちらでも可能であるのに対して、ツェムリンスキーの作品は、ラビンドラナート・タゴールの英語散文詩『園丁』のドイツ語版から相聞歌のみが選ばれており、男声同士で歌うことはできない。『抒情交響曲』において男女は、恋愛について語らいながらも、すれ違いを続けて意思疎通ができずに終わる。このような展開になるように、作曲者自身によって詩の配列も変えられている。 (ja)
