The population of the Longney and Epney parish is 285 (2011). There are two roads into the village, one of which is called Longney Road leading to Elmore and Hardwicke; the other leads to Epney. Many of the houses were built in conjunction with the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal from the local brick works. Thatching for the houses was from the reed beds at Frampton-on-Severn. It has a Church called St Laurence and a Church Of England Primary School. The church dates from the 13th century and has a 14th century tower. It has been designated as a Grade I listed building. The ecclesiastical parish is part of the benefice of Hardwicke and Elmore with Longney which is part of the Diocese of Gloucester. (en)
