- Liste de trains célèbres, certains trains sont devenus légendaires. De nos jours, la raison d'être de ceux qui assurent les très longs parcours est principalement l'agrément mais, dans certains pays, comme la Russie ou l'Inde, ils constituent toujours une part importante du système de transport. Leur renouveau est sérieusement envisagé pour lutter contre la pollution et l'effet de serre, la relance récente (depuis le 11 décembre 2007) du Paris-Moscou en étant l'exemple le plus frappant.

Trains with numeric names are spelled out. For example, the 20th Century Limited is listed under "Twentieth Century Limited". Named trains are sometimes identified through a train headboard, drumhead, lettering on the locomotive or passenger cars, or a combination of these methods. (en)
