- La lex Roscia theatralis va ser una antiga llei romana proposada pel tribú de la plebs Luci Rosci Otó quan eren cònsols Gai Calpurni Pisó i Mani Acili Glabrió III l'any 67 aC. Establia que el seient pels membres de l'ordre eqüestre que tinguessin més de 40.000 asos de patrimoni, havien de ser alguns dels situats a les primeres 14 graderies del teatre, properes als senadors. També s'assignaven els seients pels que no arribaven a aquest patrimoni. Aquesta llei no va agradar al poble i va produir alguns disturbis durant el consolat de Ciceró l'any 63 aC. (ca)
- The lex Roscia theatralis was a Roman law of 67 BC that reserved 14 rows of good seats in the theater for members of the equestrian order. It was sponsored by the tribune Roscius Otho. The equites or "knights" who had this privilege were presumably not all those who met the property requirements under the census for admission to the order, but rather those who had the right of the "public horse", a smaller and more elite group. The Latin poet Horace refers to it satirically in his Epistulae, and wonders whether melior est an puerorum nenia (it is really better than the children's nursery rhyme). (en)
