- Der Leelavati-Preis (englisch Leelavati Prize) ist ein Preis der International Mathematical Union für Verdienste um die öffentliche Vermittlung der Mathematik, der zuerst auf dem ICM 2010 in Hyderabad (Indien) verliehen wurde. Er wird von Infosys Technologies gesponsert und ist nach dem Hauptwerk Lilavati von Bhaskara II. benannt. Darin werden arithmetische Probleme in Versform gestellt (gerichtet an Lilavati, vielleicht seine Tochter). Es war eines der wichtigsten Mathematik-Lehrbücher im mittelalterlichen Indien. Er ist mit 1 Million indischen Rupien dotiert (also rd. 12.000 Euro). Lleva el nombre del tratado matemático del siglo XII , dedicado a la aritmética y el álgebra escrito por el matemático indio Bhaskara II, también conocido como Bhaskara Acharya. En el libro el autor plantea, en forma de verso, una serie de problemas en aritmética (elemental) para Lilavati (tal vez su hija). Este trabajo parece haber sido la principal fuente de aprendizaje de la aritmética y el álgebra en la India medieval. El trabajo también fue traducido al persa y fue influyente en Asia Occidental. - The Leelavati Award is an award for outstanding contribution to public outreach in mathematics. It is named after the 12th-century mathematical treatise "Lilavati" devoted to arithmetic and algebra written by the Indian mathematician Bhāskara II, also known as Bhaskara Achārya. In the book the author posed, in verse form, a series of problems in (elementary) arithmetic to one Leelavati (perhaps his daughter) and followed them up with hints to solutions. This work appears to have been the main source of learning arithmetic and algebra in medieval India. The work was also translated into Persian and was influential in West Asia. (en)

É patrocinado pela Infosys e leva o nome da obra principal Lilavati de Bhaskara II. Nele, os problemas de aritmética são colocados em versos (dirigidos a Lilavati, talvez sua filha).
