- Latchmie Kumarie Vainmati Kallicharran (லட்சுமி குமாரி வான்மதி காளீச்சரன்) (5 de junio de 1951 – 20 de enero de 2002) fue una escritora guyanesa. Fue una de las pioneras en despertar la conciencia cultural indoguyanesa. Su uso de la radio y la televisión para la promoción cultural fue innovadora. También organizó y presentó programas culturales, el primero de los cuales fue . Su primer espectáculo fue llevado a cabo a principios de los años 1970, cuando el partido gobernante Congreso Nacional del Pueblo ofrecía una considerable resistencia a considerar la cultura indo-guyanesa como verdaderamente guyanesa. Su trabajo incluyó la organización de espectáculos de baile y música, la organización de una importante exposición fotográfica de historia y objetos indo-guyaneses, y la publicación de Shraadanjali (1986), una pequeña antología de poesía indo-guyanesa. - Latchmie Kumarie Vainmati Kallicharran (5 June 1951 – 20 January 2002) was a Guyanese writer. She was one of the pioneers of Indo-Guyanese cultural awareness. She also organized and presented cultural programmes, the first being Lalla-Rookh. She staged her first show in the early 1970s when there was considerable resistance within the ruling PNC to regard Indo-Guyanese culture as being truly Guyanese. She organized dance and music shows, working to incorporate Chutney music into Mashramani, as well as the organization of an important photographic exhibition of Indo-Guyanese history and artifacts. Kallicharan grew up in Berbice, Guyana and attended the Berbice Educational Institute before attending University of Guyana, where she also worked as a librarian. She died in a fire in early 2002. She was posthumously awarded IAC honors by the Indian Action Committee. (en)
