- Las Pilas ou El Hoyo (en français : « Les Piles » ou « Le Trou ») est un complexe volcanique situé dans la partie ouest du Nicaragua dans le département de León entre ceux de Telica Rota et du Momotombo. Faisant partie d'un massif volcanique de 30 km de long, Las Pilas possède une série d'évents latéraux entourant un cône central. Las Pilas est entré en éruptions pour la dernière fois dans les années 1950 à plusieurs reprises et avant cela peut-être au XVIe siècle. (fr)

Part of a 30-km-long volcanic massif, Las Pilas has a series of well-preserved flank vents surrounding a central cone. Las Pilas last erupted in the 1950s and before that possibly in the 16th century. An aerial image of the volcano appeared in the August 1944 issue of National Geographic Magazine (p. 180). On the slope near the peak, a curious circular 100-m diameter sinkhole visible in the 1944 photo is still present in 2020. (en)

De vulkaan is onderdeel van een 30 kilometer lang vulkanisch massief en heeft een reeks van goed bewaarde flankopeningen rondom een centrale kegel. De laatste uitbarsting was in de jaren 1950 en daarvoor mogelijk in de 16e eeuw. De berg heeft een hoogte van 1088 meter. De berg maakt deel uit van de bergketen Cordillera Los Maribios. Op anderhalve kilometer naar het noordwesten ligt de vulkaan Cerro Negro. De vulkaan ligt ongeveer twintig kilometer ten oosten van de stad León. (nl)

Последняя вулканическая активность наблюдалась в 1954 году, до этого в XVI веке.
