- Bei dem Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) handelt es sich um ein Signalisierungsprotokoll für den Verbindungsaufbau über Label Switched Path (LSP) in MPLS-Netzwerken. Das Protokoll dient dazu, Labels und die dazugehörigen Weiterleitungsklassen zwischen zwei Label Switch Routern (LSR) oder zwischen einem Label Switch Router und einem Label Edge Router (LER) auszuhandeln. Jeder LSR in einem MPLS-Netzwerk sendet periodisch "Hallo"-Pakete über UDP-Port 646 als Broadcast-Meldungen an alle Router im selben Subnetz, um sich selbst im Netz bekannt zu machen. Zwischen sich kennenden LSRs werden LDP-Sitzungen zur bidirektionalen Kommunikation über TCP Port 646 aufgebaut, um die MPLS Labels auszutauschen und die jeweilige Weiterleitungsklasse des anderen Routers kennenzulernen LDP ist skalierbar und kann einfach erweitert werden. - Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) is a protocol in which routers capable of Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) exchange label mapping information. Two routers with an established session are called LDP peers and the exchange of information is bi-directional.LDP is used to build and maintain LSP databases that are used to forward traffic through MPLS networks. LDP can be used to distribute the inner label (VC/VPN/service label) and outer label (path label) in MPLS. For inner label distribution, targeted LDP (tLDP) is used.LDP and tLDP discovery runs on UDP port 646 and the session is built on TCP port 646. During the discovery phase hello packets are sent on UDP port 646 to the 'all routers on this subnet' group multicast address (224.0.0.2). However, tLDP unicasts the hello packets to the targeted neighbor's address. (en)

- LDP (acrônimo para o inglês Label Distribution Protocol que significa Protocolo de Distribuição de Rótulos) é um protocolo que permite que roteadores se comuniquem através de MPLS para a troca informações sobre o mapeamento de rótulos. Dois roteadores com uma sessão já estabelecida são denominados LDP peers e trocam informações de forma bidirecional. O LDP é utilizado para criar e manter bancos de dados que são utilizados para o encaminhamento de tráfego em redes MPLS. O LDP pode ser utilizado para distribuir rótulos internos(VC/VPN/rótulos de serviço) ou rótulos externos(path label) dentro do MPLS. Para a distribuição de rótulos internos, a variação tLDP é utilizada.As descobertas do LDP e tLDP executam na porta UDP 646 e a sessão é mantida na porta TCP 646. Durante a fase de descoberta, pacotes hello são enviados pela porta UDP 646 para 'todos os roteadores da subrede' através do endereço de grupo de multicast(224.0.0.2).
