- La kosnarita és un mineral de la classe dels fosfats. Rep el seu nom en honor de Richard Andrew "Rich" Kosnar (1946-2007), distribuïdor de minerals nord-americà, especialista en minerals de Nova Jersey, minerals de pegmatites i de tipus alpí, i de localitats de Colorado. (ca)
- Kosnarit ist ein sehr selten vorkommendes Mineral aus der Mineralklasse der „Phosphate, Arsenate und Vanadate“ mit der chemischen Zusammensetzung KZr2[PO4]3 und damit chemisch gesehen ein Kalium-Zirconium-Phosphat. Kosnarit kristallisiert im trigonalen Kristallsystem und entwickelt rhomboedrische oder durch Zwillingsbildung pseudokubische Kristalle mit glasähnlichem Glanz auf den Oberflächen. In reiner Form ist Kosnarit farblos und durchsichtig. Durch Fremdbeimengungen kann er aber auch eine hellblaue bis blaugrüne oder bläulichgraue Farbe annehmen, wobei die Transparenz entsprechend abnimmt. (de)

- Kosnarite is an alkali zirconium phosphate mineral (KZr2(PO4)3) named after an expert of pegmatites Richar A. Kosnar. Kosnarite contains potassium, oxygen, phosphorus, and zirconium with sodium, rubidium, hafnium, manganese and fluorine (Na, Rb, Hf, Mn, and F) being common impurities found in kosnarite. It was discovered in nature for the first time in 1991 by Vandall T. King. Samples that were found in granitic pegmatites from the Mount Mica Quarry, Paris, Oxford County, Maine, USA were sent to Eugene E. Foord for study. This became the first recorded case of naturally occurring kosnarite. (en)
