- كتاب الأم للإمام محمد بن إدريس الشافعي (150-204هـ)، كتاب في الفقه على مذهب الإمام الشافعي مؤلف الكتاب، قام بجمعه يوسف بن يحيى البويطي (ت 231هـ) صاحب الإمام الشافعي، ولم يذكر اسمه، وقد نسب إلى الربيع بن سليمان المرادي، إذ قام بتبويب الكتاب، فنسب إليه دون من صنفه، فإنه لم يذكر نفسه فيه، ولا نسبه إلى نفسه، كما قال الإمام الغزالي في الإحياء. قال في المهمات: وهو نحو خمسة عشر مجلداً متوسطاً. وقال ابن حجر في (مناقبه): وعدة كتب الإمام: مائة ونيف وأربعون كتاباً. The work was composed by the founder of the Shafi'i school, Imām ash-Shāfi‘ī (767-820 CE). The term "al-Umm" means "the exemplar." - Al-Umm adalah sebuah kitab yang ditulis oleh Muhammad bin Idris asy-Syafi'i. Kitab ini terdiri dari empat jilid yang isinya membahas 128 permasalahan fikih. Susunan permasalahan di dalam Al-Umm diurutkan sesuai dengan bab-bab pada ilmu fikih. Ibnu Hajar al-A'sqalani menyebutkan bahwa jumlah bab di dalam Al-Umm sebanyak 140 bab. Dua bab pertama yang dibahas ialah mengenai taharah dan salat. Ada beberapa pendapat yang meragukan bahwa asy-Syafi'i adalah penulis kitab ini. Mereka berpendapat bahwa Al-Umm ditulis oleh al-Buwaithi yang kemudian disusun oleh ar-Rabi' bin Sulaiman al-Muradi. Pendapat ini ditolak oleh Abu Bakar Ahmad al-Baihaqi dan Ahmad Syakir. Kita Al-Umm merupakan salah satu ensiklopedia Islam yang terbesar bagi Mazhab Syafi'i. (in)
