Er gilt als der schlechtere und chronologisch etwas spätere Vertreter der Komasten-Gruppe. Komasten sind auch eines seiner bevorzugten Bildthemen. Junto con el Pintor KX es el principal representante del Grupo Comasta, el cual sucedió al Pintor de la Gorgona. Su nombre le fue asignado por John Beazley. Se le considera el representante de menos talento y cronológicamente algo posterior del grupo. Los comastas son uno de sus motivos favoritos. Pintó principalmente esquifos, lekanes, cotones y las llamadas “copas Comasta”. Besides the KX Painter, the KY Painter was the main representative of the Komast Group, which succeeded the Gorgon Painter. His conventional name was allocated by John Beazley. He is considered the less talented and chronologically somewhat later representative of the group. Komasts are one of his favourite motifs. He mainly painted skyphoi, , and Komast cups.
