Kapal pertama adalah KRI Raden Eddy Martadinata (331). TNI AL berencana terus menambah pemesanan jenis PKR Sigma ini secara bertahap, untuk menggantikan Kapal perang Van Speijk yang akan dipensiunkan secara bertahap. Kapal ini akan membawa teknologi baru bagi TNI AL, berupa sistem senjata Vertical launching system (VLS). Dalam Indo Defence 2016, MBDA mendekati kesepakatan untuk memasok sistem pertahanan rudal VL Mica untuk Program dua kapal fregat SIGMA 10514 Perusak Kawal Rudal (PKR) Angkatan Laut Indonesia.VL Mica menggunakan rudal udara-ke-udara dengan aktif radar atau imaging infrared seekers, yang menyediakan kemampuan 360 derajat untuk menghadapi beberapa target secara simultan untuk jarak perlindungan maksimum 20 km.
