- John Whitehead (July 10, 1948 – May 11, 2004) was an American singer and songwriter. He was best known as one of the key members of the Philadelphia International record label, and was one-half of the successful team of McFadden & Whitehead with Gene McFadden. McFadden and Whitehead wrote many hits for Philadelphia International artists such as The O'Jays and Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, and had their own hit with "Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now" in 1979. He was the father of both members of mid 1990s duo the Whitehead Brothers, and received an LL.D. from Bates College. (en)

Nagrali m.in. przebój Echo. W latach 70. cieszyli się uznaniem jako twórcy piosenek dla wykonawców związanych z wytwórnią Philly International Records; autorstwa McFaddena i Whiteheada były m.in. utwory Back Stabbers, For the Love of Money, I'll Always Love My Mama, Wake Up Everybody, Where Are All My Friends. The Epsilons osiągnęli także sukces z własną piosenką; utwór Ain't No Stoppin' Us Now (1979) zajmował pierwszą lokatę na listach przebojów rhythmandbluesowych oraz został nominowany do nagrody Grammy. W latach 80. Whitehead spędził dwa lata w więzieniu za oszustwa podatkowe, próbował następnie kariery solowej. Zmarł tragicznie, zastrzelony; jedna z teorii głosi, że była to śmierć w ramach porachunków przestępczych. (pl)
