- John Marshall Wolverton (* 31. Januar 1872 in , Calhoun County, West Virginia; † 19. August 1944 in , West Virginia) war ein US-amerikanischer Politiker. Wolverton studierte am Law Department der West Virginia University in Morgantown. Nachdem er 1901 seinen Abschluss erhalten hatte, wurde er im selben Jahr in die Anwaltschaft aufgenommen und begann in zu praktizieren. 1904 zog er nach Richwood. 1918 und 1919 war er Bürgermeister dieser Stadt. Zuvor war Wolverton 1913 bis 1917 Staatsanwalt im Nicholas County. Von 1921 bis 1925 übte er dieses Amt erneut aus. Wolverton wurde als Republikaner in den 69. Kongress gewählt und vertrat dort vom 4. März 1925 bis zum 3. März 1927 den Bundesstaat West Virginia im US-Repräsentantenhaus. Seine erneute Kandidatur scheiterte 1926. Wolverton wurde erst wieder in den 71. Kongress gewählt und war damit vom 4. März 1929 bis zum 3. März 1931 ein zweites Mal Abgeordneter im US-Repräsentantenhaus. 1930, 1932 und zuletzt 1936 kandidierte er für einen Sitz im US-Repräsentantenhaus. Er konnte jedoch kein weiteres Mandat erringen. Nach seinem Ausscheiden aus der Politik begann er wieder in Richwood zu praktizieren. Wolverton starb 1944 in Richwood und wurde auf dem Odd Fellows Cemetery beigesetzt. (de)

Born in Big Bend, West Virginia located in Calhoun County, Wolverton attended country schools and Glenville and Fairmont State Normal Schools. He graduated from the law department of the West Virginia University at Morgantown in 1901. He was admitted to the bar the same year and commenced practice in Grantsville, West Virginia. He moved to Richwood, West Virginia in 1904, and served as mayor of Richwood in 1918 and 1919. He served as prosecuting attorney of Nicholas County, 1913 to 1917 and 1921 to 1925. Wolverton was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-ninth Congress (March 4, 1925 – March 3, 1927). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1926 to the Seventieth Congress. Wolverton was elected to the Seventy-first Congress (March 4, 1929 – March 4, 1931). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1930 to the Seventy-second Congress, and for election in 1932 to the Seventy-third Congress and in 1936 to the Seventy-fifth Congress. He resumed the practice of law in Richwood, where he died August 19, 1944. He was interred in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. (en)
