- Jean Drèze (* 1959 in Belgien) ist ein indischer Entwicklungsökonom. Seine Forschung zu Indien beschäftigt sich mit Hunger, Hungersnöten, der Gleichberechtigung von Frauen und Männern, sowie mit Gesundheit und Bildung. Seine Arbeiten schreibt er häufig gemeinsam mit den Wirtschafts-Nobelpreisträgern Amartya Sen, mit dem er vor allem zu Hungersnöten veröffentlicht hat, dem Preisträger von 2015 Angus Deaton und Nicholas Stern. Derzeit ist er Professor an der Delhi School of Economics und Gastprofessor an der Wirtschaftsfakultät der Ranchi Universität. Er war ein Mitglied des National Advisory Council von Indien. (de)

His co-authors include Nobel laureate in economics Amartya Sen, with whom he has written on famine, Nicholas Stern, with whom he has written on policy reform when market prices are distorted, and Nobel laureate in economics Angus Deaton. He is currently an honorary professor at the Delhi School of Economics, visiting professor at the Department of Economics, Ranchi University, and also the member of Economic Advisory Council to the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu headed by Nobel Laureate Esther Duflo. He was a member of the National Advisory Council of India in both first and second term, but only for a year each time. (en)

Drèze werd geboren in België als zoon van de econoom Jacques Drèze. Hij studeerde wiskundige economie aan de Universiteit van Essex.
