- Jean-Michel Oughourlian (born 20 August 1940) is an Armenian-French neuropsychiatrist and psychologist as well as a writer and philosopher recognized both in France and the United States for his collaboration with René Girard and his work on the mimetic theory of desire. Since the early 1970s he has devoted both his clinical work and his research to applying and developing Girard's theories in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, and psychopathology. He is the author of several books (see ), in which he developed clinical points of view around mimetic theory of desire. He is currently the President of the Association of Doctors of the American Hospital of Paris, as well as an honorary member of the Association Recherches Mimétiques, whose goal is to structure research linked to René Girard's mimetic theory and to make the theory more widely known in French-speaking countries. Jean-Michel Oughourlian is Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta to Armenia. He is involved in the fight against poverty, exclusion, and sickness through the defense of the physical, psychological, and spiritual integrity of individuals. (en)
- Jean-Michel Oughourlian, né le 20 août 1940 à Beyrouth au Liban, est un neuropsychiatre, psychologue ainsi qu'un écrivain et essayiste franco-libanais, reconnu aussi bien en France qu'aux États-Unis pour sa collaboration avec René Girard — membre de l'Académie française — et ses travaux autour de la théorie du désir mimétique. Il détient la double nationalité française et libanaise. Il est actuellement président de l'Association des médecins de l'Hôpital américain de Paris ainsi que membre d’honneur de l’association Recherches mimétiques, qui a pour objet de structurer la recherche liée à la théorie mimétique issue des travaux de René Girard et d'organiser sa diffusion en langue française. Humaniste catholique, ambassadeur de l'ordre souverain de Malte près la République d'Arménie, Jean-Michel Oughourlian est engagé dans la lutte contre la précarité, l’exclusion et les maladies menant à la dépendance au travers de la défense de l'intégrité physique, psychologique et spirituelle des individus. Depuis sa retraite de ses activités cliniques en France, il partage son temps entre ses fonctions diplomatiques et humanitaires en Arménie et de nombreuses conférences dans des universités notamment aux États-Unis.
