- The Hunic superterrane is a terrane that is now attached to Europe and Asia. At the end of the Ordovician or beginning of the Silurian it separated from Gondwana and joined Laurasia at the beginning of the Carboniferous, at the time of the Variscan orogeny. Rather than being a single block, there were apparently two groups of blocks, the European Hunic terranes and the Asian Hunic terranes. The collision with Laurasia (specifically, with the ) formed what is now known as Kazakhstania according to one geological model of the ancient Earth. The Hunic terranes are named after the Huns, since they are found in the areas that the Huns occupied. (en)

- Il superterrane Hun o superterrane Unno è un terrane, cioè un frammento di crosta terrestre attualmente attaccato all'Europa e all'Asia. Tra la fine dell'Ordoviciano e l'inizio del Siluriano il superterrane si separò dalla Gondwana e andò ad unirsi alla Laurasia all'inizio del Carbonifero, all'epoca dell'orogenesi ercinica. Non si tratta di un blocco unico, in quanto il superterrane appare distinto in due blocchi, i terrane Hun europei e i terrane Hun asiatici. Secondo alcuni modelli dell'evoluzione geologica della Terra, la collisione con la Laurasia (e più in particolare con l') diede luogo alla formazione della regione continentale della Kazakhstania. W czasie orogenezy kadomskiej (650-550 mln lat temu) terrany mające później utworzyć zespół terranów huńskich były spojone z Gondwaną wzdłuż jej północnego (afrykańsko-arabskiego) brzegu. W późnym ordowiku wzdłuż tego wybrzeża utworzył się ryft tektoniczny, zaczątek późniejszego oceanu Paleotetydy. Powstający ocean w późnym sylurze (około 420 mln lat temu) oddzielił od kontynentu Gondwany długi i stosunkowo wąski pas terranów stanowiących wcześniej jej północny margines. Powstały w ten sposób mikrokontynent był podzielony uskokiem przesuwczym na dwie części: europejski terran huński na zachodzie i azjatycki terran huński na wschodzie. Dryfujący na północ europejski terran huński zamykał ocean Reik, którego skorupa uległa subdukcji pod ten mikrokontynent. W środkowym dewonie europejski terran huński zaczął się zderzać z terranami leżącymi wzdłuż południowego brzegu Laurosji. W środkowym karbonie europejski terran huński całkowicie połączył się z Laurosją. Większość terranów europejskiego terranu huńskiego została dotknięta fałdowaniami hercyńskimi, wywołanymi późniejszą kolizją Gondwany z Laurosją w karbonie. Część z nich została powtórnie wydźwignięta podczas fałdowań alpejskich. Azjatycki terran huński zaczął dryf na północ znacznie później, niż terran europejski. Ostatecznie połączył się z kontynentem eurazjatyckim, dołączając do południowego wybrzeża jego wschodniej części. Hipotezę o istnieniu opisanych mikrokontynentów wysunęli w latach 90. ubiegłego wieku szwajcarscy geolodzy i z uniwersytetów w Lozannie i we Fryburgu. Nazwa "terrany huńskie" została wprowadzona przez G. Stampfliego, który zauważył, że grupują one większość ziem, które miliony lat później zostały spustoszone przez Hunów Attyli. (pl)
