- Pioniers is a baseball and softball team based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The club is currently sponsored by Raamsdonkveer-based construction company Vaessen BV and the team is officially known as the Vaessen Pioniers. Pioniers baseball team plays in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse, the top level of professional baseball in the Netherlands. The club's most successful year was 1997 they reached the Holland Series for the first time in the club's history by beating reigning champions DOOR Neptunus in the play-offs. In the Holland Series they claimed a 3-2 victory over Mr. Cocker HCAW, making them Dutch champions. In 2006 Pioniers finished third in the Honkbal Hoofdklasse and were just like in 1997 able to upset Neptunus in the play-offs, gaining themselves entrance to the 2006 Holland Series. In those series they twice took the lead, to eventually lose to Corendon Kinheim 3-2. The team is attempting to attract three Major League Baseball regular season games for the opening of its new stadium in 2014. The stadium will be capable of expanding to temporarily accommodate 30,000. (en)

Nel loro anno migliore, il 1997, riuscirono a vincere il titolo nazionale: battendo ai play-off per 3-2 il DOOR Neptunus, campione in carica, raggiunsero per la prima volta nella loro storia le Holland Series, dove sconfissero 3-2 il Mr. Cocker HCAW. L'anno seguente, partecipando alla Coppa dei Campioni, persero la finale del torneo continentale contro il Parma Baseball. Het eerste mannenhonkbalteam (dat uitkomt onder de naam Hoofddorp Pioniers) speelt sinds 1993 onafgebroken in de Honkbal hoofdklasse. In totaal kwam het 28 seizoenen, in vier perioden, op het hoogste niveau uit. De eerste vier seizoenen waren in 1984, 1986-1987 en 1991. In 1997 werd, als "Minolta Pioniers", het enige landskampioenschap behaald. Daarnaast werd nog eens vijf keer de finale van de Holland Series gehaald. In Europees verband werd in 2003 en 2006 de Europa Cup II (voor bekerwinnaars en/of runners-up) gewonnen en in 2004 en 2005 de finale bereikt. In 1998 werd de finale bereikt van de Europa Cup I (voor landskampioenen). Het eerste vrouwensoftbalteam speelt onder de eigen clubnaam Hoofddorp Pioniers in 2016 in de "Softbal Silver League" op het tweede niveau. Het keert (na terugtrekking van ) na vijf seizoenen terug op dit niveau. Dit seizoen, in 2019, spelen de dames weer Golden League. (nl)
