- Hitnrun Phase Two (stilisiert als HITnRUN Phase Two; von „hit and run phase two“) ist das 39. Studioalbum des US-amerikanischen Musikers Prince und das letzte, das zu dessen Lebzeiten erschien. Er veröffentlichte es am 12. Dezember 2015 bei seinem eigenen Label NPG Records und war anfangs nur als Download käuflich zu erwerben. Auf CD erschien das Album am 21. Januar 2016 und erhielt jeder Konzertbesucher seiner Tournee „Piano & A Microphone“ vom 16. Februar bis zum 14. April 2016. Postum wurde Hitnrun Phase Two am 6. Mai 2016 von der Universal Music Group weltweit veröffentlicht. Sechs der insgesamt zwölf Songs waren zuvor als Studioversion erhältlich, aber auf keinem Album zu finden. Die Musik zählt zu den Genres Contemporary R&B, Funk, Pop und Soul, als Gastmusiker wirken Ida Kristine Nielsen, Ledisi und das Blechbläserquintett Hornheads mit. Musikkritiker bewerteten Hitnrun Phase Two überwiegend positiv und aus kommerzieller Sicht konnte es erst nach Prince’ Tod im April 2016 international Top-Ten-Platzierungen erreichen, aber kein Gold- oder Platinstatus erzielen. - Hit n Run Phase Two is the thirty-ninth studio album by American recording artist Prince and the last to be released within his lifetime. It was initially released exclusively on the Tidal streaming service on December 12, 2015 for streaming and purchase as a continuation of his previous album, Hit n Run Phase One. Prince confirmed on Twitter that a physical CD would be released during a weekend of Paisley Park shows in January 2016. The CD was given away to attendees of the shows on the Australian and New Zealand leg of the Piano & a Microphone Tour. The album was finally given a worldwide CD release on May 6, 2016 through Universal Music Group, just over two weeks after his death. The album includes the song "Baltimore", for the memory of the death of Freddie Gray. The album has a more organic sound than the recent Art Official Age, features Booker T. Jones on engineering duties, and includes a large brass section (the "NPG Hornz") of five saxophonists, four trumpets and two trombones. (en)
