Henry Douglas Shawcross (1884–1913) was an English newspaper journalist, who died in Blackburn at the early age of 29. He was born in Burnley, Lancashire, and was the grandson of Henry Houlding, a prominent Victorian poet in Burnley. Aged 16 he joined the staff of the Northern Daily and Weekly Telegraph (now the Lancashire Telegraph). He was the author of Nature and the Idealist, published posthumously in 1914. Selections from the book were later published in 1920 as The Road-Wanderer.
