- Guigó IV d'Albon, anomenat Dauphin mort a La Buissière el 1142, va ser comte d'Albon de 1133 a 1142. Era fill de Guigó III d'Albon i de Matilde. Aquest comte és el primer a portar el sobrenom de Dauphin (Guigo Delphinus), i això des de 1110, O sigui vint-i-tres anys abans de regnar. Els feus del comte d'Albon i del comte de Savoia s'embolicaven i cap frontera no podia ser traçada. Certs feus del comte de Savoia Amadeu III com Ribes, Voiron i Saint-Laurent-du-Pont eren massa prop de Grenoble per no ser jutjats sensibles per Guigó. N'hi va haver prou que Amadeu exercís algunes pressions sobre les terres delfineses limítrofes el 1140 perquè el comte d'Albon aixequés la seu ost i marxés contra el comte de Savoia al Gresivaudan, fins i tot sent el comte savoià cunyat de Guigó, ja que s'havia casat amb la seva germana Mahaud o Mafalda. Guigó va posar setge al castell de Montmélian però fou sorprès per un contraatac del comte de Savoia. Mortalment ferit, fou transportat al castell de La Buissière on va morir 3 dies més tard als braços de la seva esposa. S'havia casat amb Margarida de Mâcon († 1164), filla d', comte palatí de Borgonya, neboda del papa Calixt II, amb la que va tenir tres fills:
* Guigó V d'Albon (1125 † 1162), comte d'Albon, qui utilitzant el malnom del seu pare prendrà el títol de delfí del Vienès.
* Beatriu d'Albon, casada amb Aymar I de Poitiers, comte de Valentinois
* Marquesa d'Albon († 1196), casada vers 1150 amb Guillem VII († 1169), comte d'Alvèrnia, els descendents dels quals prendran el titula de delfí d'Alvèrnia. (ca)

Juni 1142), war ein Graf von Albon im Viennois aus dem Haus Albon. Erstmals erscheint der Beiname in einer Urkunde seiner Eltern vom 31. Oktober 1110: ("Hanc donationem quam fecerunt Guigo comes et Maheldis regina uxor sua, donaverunt et laudaverunt similiter filii eorum Guigo dalfinus et Umbertus").Guigues nannte sich erstmals selbst „Delfin“ (Delfinus) in einer um 1122 an die Abtei von Bonnevaux gerichteten Schenkung. In einem Vertrag mit dem Bischof Hugo II. von Grenoble aus dem Jahr 1140 wiederholte er dies. Dieser Name avancierte unter seinen Nachkommen zur Titulierung, fand als Wappentier Verwendung und gab auch ihrem Land die Bezeichnung „Dauphiné“. Der Titel der französischen Thronfolger ab dem späten Mittelalter ging darauf zurück. Guigues führte eine Fehde gegen den Grafen von Savoyen. Dabei wurde er bei einem Kampf in der Nähe von La Buissière tödlich verwundet. Er wurde bestattet in der Kathedrale Notre-Dame in Grenoble. Er war verheiratet mit Clementia/Margarete von Mâcon, einer Tochter des Grafen Stephan Tollkopf von Mâcon. Ihre Kinder waren:

He was the first to take the name Dauphin, meaning "dolphin", which became a title among his successors. Guigues was the eldest son and heir of Guigues III of Albon and Matilda. He was first called dauphin in a document of his father's from 1110. There is a theory that Matilda was in fact English, a daughter of Edgar the Ætheling, and that the name Dauphin came to Guigues through her, since she had a relative named Dolfin, a son of Gospatric, Earl of Northumbria. Another theory posits that Matilda was a daughter of Count Roger I of Sicily and the widow of King Conrad II of Italy. Guigues married , daughter of Stephen I, Count of Burgundy, and niece of Pope Calixtus II. Guigues had good relations with the priory of Oulx and the abbey of Bonnevaux, to which he made gifts. In 1140, however, Guigues was involved in a dispute with the bishop Hugh II of Grenoble. In or about 1134, Count Amadeus III of Savoy married Guigues's sister Matilda. Her dowry was the likely cause of the dispute that erupted between the two counts in 1140, the first war between the two counties. Guigues invaded the county of Savoy and besieged Montmélian. Ambushed by Amadeus near the castle of La Buissière, he was wounded in battle and died a few days later on 28 June 1142. He was succeeded by his son Guigues V. Guigues IV may have been the inspiration for the character of Schionatulander in Wolfram von Eschenbach's romance Titurel, written around 1217. (en)
