- Die Studie Great Transition wurde im August 2002 von der Global Scenario Group (GSG) veröffentlicht. Die GSG wurde 1995 vom Tellus Institute und dem Stockholm Environment Institute gegründet und beauftragte eine Gruppe von internationalen Forschern, eine Prognose für die Entwicklung der Welt im einundzwanzigsten Jahrhundert zu erstellen. Das Essay beschreibt jenseits der Gefahr, am gegenwärtigen Scheideweg der Menschheit in die Barbarei abzugleiten, auch die Möglichkeit einer globalisierten Gesellschaft voller Frieden, Freiheit, Solidarität, Wohlstand und intakter Ökosysteme. Die grundlegende Frage „Wie wollen wir leben?“ müsse gemeinsam von der gesamten Menschheit beantwortet werden. (de)
- الانتقال الكبير، تَستخدم المبادرة الانتقالية الكبرى وسابقيها والمجموعة العالمية للسيناريوهات مصطلح الانتقال الكبير لوصف رؤية لمستقبل عالمي عادل ومستدام، وقد صاغ كينيث إيفارت بولدينج في الأصل المصطلح في كتابه "معنى القرن العشرين- الانتقال الكبير 1964"، ويصف فيه التحول من قَبل الحداثة إلى ثقافة ما بعد الحداثة ومسارات العمل الأربعة التي تؤمن أن هذه المنظمات ستسمح للإنسانية إدارة الانتقال الكبير بنجاح. تشمل عناصر الانتقال الكبير التكافؤ الاجتماعي والقيم البيئية، وتعمل على زيادة الروابط بين البشر وتحسين جودة الحياة وجعل الكوكب صحي، فضلًا عن غياب الفقر والحروب والدمار البيئي، وقد استشهد كلًا من رئيس الوزراء ليونبو جيغمي ثينيلي وجون راين كولينز من مؤسسة الاقتصاد الجديدة ومعهد العاصمة بمفهوم الانتقال الكبير، وقد كان هذا موضوع لمؤتمر المنظمات الأهلية عام 2011 المعني باستراتيجيات المجتمع المدني في لندن. - Great Transition is used by the Great Transition Initiative and its predecessor, the Global Scenario Group (GSG), to describe a vision of a just and sustainable global future. The term was originally coined by Kenneth E. Boulding in The Meaning of the 20th Century – The Great Transition (1964) and describes the shift from pre-modern to post-modern culture, and the four possible courses of action that these organizations believe will allow humanity to successfully manage the Great Transition. Elements of the Great Transition vision include egalitarian social and ecological values, increased inter-human connectivity, improved quality of life, and a healthy planet, as well as the absence of poverty, war, and environmental destruction. The Great Transition concept was cited by Prime Minister of Bhutan Jigme Thinley, Josh Ryan-Collins of the New Economics Foundation, and the Capital Institute. It was used as a theme for the 2011 SmartCSOs conference on strategies for Civil Society Organisations in London. (en)
