- الخريطة العالمية هي مجموعة من الخرائط الرقمية التي تغطي بدقة العالم بأسره للتعبير عن حالة البيئة العالمية. ويتم تطويره من خلال تعاون السلطات الوطنية للمعلومات الجغرافية الفضائية (NGIA) في العالم. وفي عام 1992، دعت وزارة البناء في اليابان (وزارة الأراضي والبنية التحتية والنقل والسياحة الحالية) إلى مبادرة لتطوير الخريطة العالمية في إطارالتعاون الدولي، وهي المشروع العالمي لرسم الخرائط. الخريطة العالمية عبارة عن معلومات جغرافية فضائية رقمية باستبانة 1 كيلومترات والتي تفي بالشروط التالية:بحث جوجل 1.تغطي مساحة الكرة الأرضية 2.مواصفات منسّقة 3.يسهل الوصول إليها من قبل أي شخص بتكلفة هامشة تتألف المعلومات الجغرافية الفضائية العالمية التي تم تطويرها بوصفها الخريطة العالمية بشكل رئيسي من الطبقات المواضيعية التالية:
* النقل
* الحدود
* التصريف
* المراكز السكانية
* الارتفاع
* الغطاء النباتي(%الغطاء الشجري)
* غطاء أرضي
* استخدام الأرض (ar)
- Global Map is a set of digital maps that accurately cover the whole globe to express the status of global environment. It is developed through the cooperation of National Geospatial Information Authorities (NGIAs) in the world. An initiative to develop Global Map under international cooperation, the Global Mapping Project, was advocated in 1992 by Ministry of Construction, Japan (MOC) at the time (the current Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Japan-MLIT). Global Map is digital geospatial information in 1 km resolution which satisfies the following conditions: 1.
* Covering the whole land area of the globe 2.
* In consistent specifications 3.
* Easily accessible by anyone in marginal cost The global geospatial information developed as Global Map mainly consists of the following thematic layers:
* Transportation
* Boundary
* Drainage
* Population Centers
* Elevation
* Vegetation （Percent Tree Cover）
* Land Cover
* Land Use (en)

Se desarrolla a través de la cooperación de las organizaciones cartográficas nacionales en el mundo. Una iniciativa para desarrollar el Mapa Global marco de la cooperación internacional, el Proyecto de Cartografía Global, fue defendida en 1992 por el Ministerio de la Construcción, Japón (MOC) en el momento (el actual Ministerio de Tierra, Infraestructura, Transporte y Turismo, Japón-MLIT).
