- Gheorghe Sarău (* 21. dubna 1956 , Rumunsko) je rumunský jazykovědec se specializací na romštinu. Je autorem několika romských učebnic a hraje důležitou roli v procesu . Studoval na Fakultě cizích jazyků a literatury na , Ruskomaďarskou katedru. Studium ukončil v roce 1983. Na škole studoval bulharštinu, španělštinu, němčinu, angličtinu a francouzštinu. Později se přes knihu „Romové“ od dostal k romštině, které se začal věnovat. Vydal velké množství článků o tomto jazyku a spolupracoval na množství národních i mezinárodních konferencí na toto téma. - Gheorghe Sarău (born 21 April 1956, Segarcea-Vale, Teleorman County, Romania) is a Romanian linguist specialized in the Romani language. He is the author of several Romani textbooks and plays an important role in the process of standardization of the Romani language. He studied at the Faculty of Foreign Languages and Literatures, University of Bucharest, Russian-Hungarian section, from where he graduated in 1983. During his student years, he also studied Bulgarian, Spanish, German, English and French. While at the faculty, he came across a book on Romani people by Jean Vaillant, which also contained a short introduction to the Romani language. He started to study the language and learn it by himself. Sarău published a large number of articles and papers on the Romani language and participated at numerous national and international conferences on the language. (en)

Il est l’auteur de plusieurs livres et manuels romanis, et joue un rôle important dans le processus de standardisation de la langue romani.Il a étudié à la faculté des langues et littératures étrangères de l’université de Bucarest, section russe-hongrois, où il est diplômé en 1983. Durant ses études, il a aussi étudié le bulgare, l’espagnol, l’allemand, l’anglais et le français. C’est là qu’il a lu le livre de Jean Vaillant sur les Roms contenant une introduction à la langue romani. Il apprend alors la langue par lui-même.
