- L'artère gastroduodénale est une artère issue de la division de l'artère hépatique commune. Elle approvisionne en sang oxygéné une partie de l'estomac, du duodénum et du pancréas. Elle chemine en arrière du pylore et se divise en deux branches :
* l'artère gastro-omentale droite, qui vascularise une partie de l'estomac au niveau de la grande courbure ;
* l'artère pancréaticoduodénale supérieure antérieure puis chemine à la face antérieure du pancréas descend en passant entre la première portion du Duodénum et le pancréas et se retrouve à sa face postérieure donnant alors l'artère pancréaticoduodénale supérieure et postérieure, qui vascularise une partie du duodénum et une partie de la tête du pancréas. Chacune des deux branches de division est le siège d'une anastomose :
* l'artère gastro-omentale droite s'anastomose avec l'artère gastro-omentale gauche, branche de l'artère splénique ;
* l'artère pancréaticoduodénale supérieure s'anastomose avec l', branche de l'artère mésentérique supérieure. C’est cette artère qui va être endommagée et provoquer un saignement abdominal abondant lors d’un ulcère, étant donné que le pylore est le site préférentielle d’apparition d’ulcère.
