- Frank-Olaf Schreyer ist ein deutscher Mathematiker, der sich mit Algebraischer Geometrie und algorithmischer Algebraischer Geometrie befasst. Schreyer wurde 1983 an der Brandeis University bei David Eisenbud promoviert (Syzygies of Curves with Special Pencils). Er war Professor an der Universität Bayreuth und ist seit 2002 Professor an der Universität des Saarlandes. Er ist an dem von seinem Doktorvater David Eisenbud vorangetriebenen Ausbau der (algorithmischen) algebraischen Geometrie und speziell der auf David Hilbert zurückgehende Syzygientheorie beteiligt und entwickelte Algorithmen zur Berechnung von Syzygien. Er ist Fellow der American Mathematical Society. 2010 war er Eingeladener Sprecher auf dem ICM in Hyderabad (Indien). (de)

Schreyer was a professor at University of Bayreuth and is since 2002 a professor at Saarland University. He is involved in the development of (algorithmic) algebraic geometry advanced by David Eisenbud. Much of Schreyer's research deals with syzygy theory and the development of algorithms for the calculation of syzygies. In 2010 he was an invited speaker (jointly with David Eisenbud) at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Hyderabad. In 2012 he was elected a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society.
