La même année, la Prusse entreprit de construire le fort de , à 15 kilomètres à l'ouest de Dixcove, pour défendre sa propre colonie. En 1712, le fort Metal Cross fut assiégé deux fois par , un autochtone allié des Prussiens, mais il ne fut pas pris. Le fort a été cédé aux Holandais en 1868, en application du , qui met en cohérence les zones d'influences respectives des deux puissances coloniales de la Côte de l'Or. Le 6 avril 1872, en application du le fort revint à nouveau au Royaume-Uni avec l'ensemble de la Côte-de-l'Or néerlandaise. Le fort, comme ses voisins de la côte ghanéenne, fut classé au Patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 1979. (fr)
- Fort Metalen Kruis was een Nederlands, Pruisisch en Brits fort gelegen aan de Goudkust in Ghana. Het fort is in 1683 gebouwd door de Britten als Fort Dixcove. In 1712 werd het ingenomen door de Brandenburger . Door het verdwijnen van de slavenhandel verloor het fort strategische betekenis. In 1868 werd het fort, als onderdeel van een gebiedsruil met de Britten, Nederlands en omgedoopt in Fort Metalen Kruis, naar de naam van het marineschip dat uitgezonden was naar de Goudkust om de ruil te effectueren. In 1872 werd het fort met de rest van de Nederlandse bezittingen op de Goudkust verkocht aan de Britten. Zij restaureerden het fort in de jaren vijftig. (nl)
