- Der Ford Landau war ein PKW, den Ford Australia von 1973 bis 1976 baute. Der Wagen wurde im August 1973 vorgestellt und basierte auf dem XB Falcon, besaß aber die Front und die Luxusausstattung der Pullman-Limousine P5 LTD, eine weitere australische Konstruktion, die gleichzeitig mit dem Landau vorgestellt wurde. Den Landau gab es nur als 2-türiges Hardtop-Coupé; er hatte den gleichen Radstand von 2819 mm wie der Falcon. Angetrieben wurde der Wagen von einer australischen, niedrig verdichteten Version des Ford-Cleveland-V8-Motors mit 5752 cm³ Hubraum, der eine Leistung von 290 bhp (214 kW) bei 5000 min−1 lieferte. Das dreistufige Automatikgetriebe war eine T-Bar SelectShift Cruisomatic, die auch von Hand geschaltet werden konnte. Es gab vier Scheibenbremsen, womit der Landau und sein Schwestermodell LTD die ersten australischen Autos mit diesem Ausstattungsdetail waren. Wegen seiner kompletten Serienausstattung gab es nur zwei Sonderausstattungen für den Landau: Einen Kassettenradio und eine komplette Lederinnenausstattung. Somit und wegen seiner leistungsorientierten Mechanik hatte der Landau nie einen wirklichen Konkurrenten auf dem australischen Markt. Es gab zwar Pläne, den P5 Landau mit der Front des neuen P6 LTD zu versehen, die auch zur Designstudie eines P6 Landau führten; dieser aber ging nie in Serienproduktion. - The Ford Landau is a car which was produced by Ford Australia from 1973 to 1976. Released in August 1973, the Ford Landau was based on the Australian XA series Ford Falcon but shared its frontal appearance and luxury features with the P5 series Ford LTD limousine, another Australian design which was released at the same time as the Landau. The Landau was available only as a two-door hardtop coupe and shared its 111 inches (2,800 mm) wheelbase with the Falcon. It was powered by an Australian-built low compression version of Ford's 351 cubic inch (5752cc) Cleveland V8 engine with a power output of 290 bhp (220 kW) at 5000 rpm. Its transmission was a three-speed “T-Bar SelectShift Cruisomatic” unit, allowing a choice of manual or fully automatic gear changing. Four wheel disc brakes were fitted, making the Landau and its similarly equipped LTD stablemate the first Australian-built cars with this feature. The high levels of standard equipment fitted to the Landau meant that only two items were offered as optional equipment: a cassette deck and full leather interior trim. This factor, combined with the performance orientated mechanical specifications of the Landau meant that it never had a direct rival in the Australian marketplace. Plans to update the original P5 series Landau with the frontal styling of the forthcoming P6 series LTD resulted in the building of a P6 Landau design study, but the facelifted model was not put into production. The Landau was discontinued when the new LTD was released in 1976, after a total production run of 1385 vehicles. (en)
