It was mapped by the United States Geological Survey from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960–64, and was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names for , an aviation boatswain's mate with Squadron VX-6 during U.S. Navy Operation Deep Freeze, 1966, 1967 and 1968. - Il ghiacciaio Finley è un ghiacciaio lungo circa 12 km, situato nella parte nord-occidentale della Dipendenza di Ross, nell'Antartide orientale. Il ghiacciaio, il cui punto più alto si trova a circa 1700 m s.l.m., si trova sulla costa di Borchgrevink, nella regione centro-meridionale delle dorsale dell'Alpinista, da dove fluisce verso nord-est, partendo dal versante settentrionale del fino a unire il proprio flusso a quello del ghiacciaio Icebreaker.
