- The men's foil was one of eight fencing events on the fencing at the 1968 Summer Olympics programme. It was the fifteenth appearance of the event. The competition was held from 15 to 16 October 1968. 64 fencers from 25 nations competed. Nations had been limited to three fencers each since 1928. The event was won by Ion Drîmbă of Romania, the nation's first medal in the men's foil. Silver went to Jenő Kamuti, the first medal for Hungary in the event since 1948. Daniel Revenu of France repeated as the bronze medalist, the sixth man to win multiple medals in the event. (en)
- La competizione del fioretto individuale maschile di scherma ai Giochi della XIX Olimpiade si tenne nei giorni 15 e 16 ottobre 1968 alla "Sala d’arme Fernando Montes de Oca" di Città del Messico. L'Unione Sovietica aveva schierato gli ultimi due Campioni del Mondo, e German Svešnikov, quindi è stata una sorpresa che nessuno dei loro schermitori si sia qualificato per il girone finale a sei per decidere le posizioni di medaglia. Al contrario, la Francia, guidata dall'ex campione del mondo Jean-Claude Magnan, ha qualificato tutta la squadra per la fase finale ed è stata raggiunta da due rumeni e ungherese.
