- فارْك، موقع مجتمع افتراضي أنشأه دْرو كيرتِس، يوفّر لمستخدميه خاصّية التعليق على وجبة مقالاتٍ إخباريّة يوميّة مأخوذة من مواقع مختلفة. يتلقّى الموقع يومياً إسهامات للنشر، يبلغ عدد ما يُنشر منها المئات تقريباً، تظهر على الموقع للعلن، وتنتشر على الصفحة الرئيسية والصفحات الفرعية (تسلية، رياضة، هوس التيكنولوجيا، سياسة واقتصاد). وفقاً لكيرتس، فالمقالات تُختار بدون تحيّز سياسي مقصود، ويحاول استعراض مقالات تتراوح انتماءاتُها من أقصى اليسار إلى أقصى اليمين. يقدّم مشتركو الموقع (الذين يُسمّون، فاركرز) روابطَ للمشاركة، وهذه تحتاج إلى موافقة مدراء النشر (الأدمين)، الذين يمنحون المقال «الضوء الأخضر» للنشر على الصفحة الرئيسية أو إحدى الصفحات الثانوية. ما عدا الروابط المتعلقة بداعمي الموقع، فلجميع الروابط، بغض النظر عمّا إذا سُمح بنشرها أم لا، لها سلسلة مناقشة، حيث بإمكان المشتركين التعليق عليها. يمكن للروابط التي أُعطيت الضوء الأخضر أن تحصل على أكثر من 300.000 مشاهدة في الشهر. ينتج عن هذا حركة مرور ويب هائلة في وقت وجيز، ما يُسفر عن تعطيل بعض المواقع الصغيرة بسبب الازدحام المروري الافتراضي أو فشل المخدّم. - Fark is a community website created by Drew Curtis that allows members to comment on a daily batch of news articles and other items from various websites. The site receives many story submissions per day and approximately 100 of them are publicly displayed on the site, spread out over the main page as well as topical tabs that are organized as entertainment, sports, geek, politics and business). Curtis says the stories are selected without intentional political bias, but that he tries to run both far-left and far-right articles. Links are submitted by Fark members (collectively referred to as "Farkers"), which admins can approve ("greenlight") for posting on either the main page or one of the subsidiary tab pages. Other than sponsored content, links have associated threads where users can comment. Greenlit links can generate upwards of 300,000 page views in one month for the recipient. This can generate such an enormous amount of traffic in such a short time that smaller websites thus linked are often rendered inoperable due to congestion or simple server failure. Le slogan du site est It's not news... it's Fark. Des liens vers des nouvelles accompagnés d'une ligne humoristique d'introduction sont proposés aux administrateurs du site qui en sélectionnent quelques-uns, qui sont alors affichés en première page. Depuis quelques années, une partie du site est accessible aux seuls abonnés, TotalFark, proposant beaucoup plus de liens vers des nouvelles. Les abonnés ont par ailleurs la primeur des commentaires puisqu'en général, les nouvelles leur sont visibles bien avant leur mise à disposition du public non abonné. Un lien proposé en page principale augmente la fréquentation du site cible par environ 300.000 hits par mois, ce qui provoque pour certains sites une panne, un effet analogue à l'effet Slashdot.
