FASMI stands for Fast Analysis of Shared Multidimensional Information. The term FASMI was coined by Nigel Pendse of OLAP Report as an alternative definition for OLAP. Nigel felt that the 12 rules that Tedd Codd came up with to define the term OLAP were too controversial and biased . Also Nigel considered that 12 rules was too long, and good definition of OLAP could be done in only 5 rules.
