- Das European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) unterstützt die für den Schutz der Wälder vor Bränden in der EU und den Nachbarländern zuständigen Behörden. Seine Aufgabe ist es, die Dienststellen der Europäischen Kommission und das Europäische Parlament mit aktuellen und zuverlässigen Informationen zu Waldbränden in Europa zu versorgen. Seit 1998 wird EFFIS von einer Expertengruppe für Waldbrände unterstützt. Experten aus 25 EU-Ländern und aus 17 Organisationen in Nicht-EU-Ländern (auch aus dem Nahen Osten und aus Nordafrika) wirken darin mit. Die Gruppe ist beim Generalsekretariat der Europäischen Kommission registriert. EFFIS ist seit 2015 eine der Komponenten der Notfallmanagementdienste im Copernicus-Programm der EU. EFFIS dokumentierte zum Beispiel die Waldbrände während der Dürre und Hitze in Europa 2022. Im Vergleich zum Durchschnitt der Jahre 2006 bis 2021 wurde im Jahr 2022 fast die dreifache Waldfläche in Westeuropa durch Brände zerstört. (de)
- The European Forest Fire Information System (EFFIS) supports the services in charge of the protection of forests against fires in the EU and neighbor countries and provides the European Commission services and the European Parliament with updated and reliable information on wildland fires in Europe. Since 1998, EFFIS is supported by a network of experts from the countries in what is called the Expert Group on Forest Fires, which is registered under the . Currently, this group consists on experts from 43 countries in European, Middle East and North African countries. In 2015, EFFIS became one of the components of the Emergency Management Services in the EU Copernicus program. (en)

Depuis 1998, l'EFFIS est soutenu par un réseau d'experts des pays membres appellé le Groupe d'experts sur les incendies de forêt, qui est enregistré auprès du Secrétariat général de la Commission européenne. Actuellement, ce groupe est composé d'experts de 43 pays d'Europe, du Moyen-Orient et d'Afrique du Nord. З 1998 року EFFIS підтримується мережею експертів із країн так званої Експертної групи з лісових пожеж, яка зареєстрована при Генеральному секретаріаті Європейської Комісії.
