- Die Enemalta Corporation (EMC) ist das einzige maltesische Energieversorgungsunternehmen und beschäftigt derzeit etwa 2.000 Mitarbeiter. Es ist für den Import von Erdöl und Gas sowie für die Erzeugung und Einspeisung von Elektrizität in das maltesische Stromnetz zuständig. Die Enemalta betreibt das maltesische Kraftwerk Delimara (444 MW, Inbetriebnahme 1992). Das Kraftwerk Marsa (267 MW, Inbetriebnahme 1966) wird ab Oktober 2014 schrittweise stillgelegt. Seit April 2015 besteht mit der eine Verbindung zum italienischen Stromnetz mit einer Kapazität von 200 MW. Zudem wurden bis zu ihrer jeweiligen Abschaltung ein Kraftwerk in Floriana (1896 bis 1960), ein Kraftwerk in Corradino (1939 bis 1992) und die Station A in Marsa (1953 bis 1993) von Enemalta betrieben. Da Malta keine eigenen Ressourcen besitzt, setzt die Enemalta komplett auf importierte Brennstoffe, vor allem schweres Heizöl. Im Jahr 2006 produzierten die beiden Kraftwerke der Enemalta 2261189 MWh und setzten dabei für jede erzeugte Kilowattstunde 0,8782 kg CO2 frei. (de)
- Enemalta plc is the only Maltese energy company. It provides energy services in the Maltese Islands and is entrusted with the distribution of electricity, and the development of the national electricity distribution network. It employs approximately 600 people. Enemalta operates the emergency plants of the Delimara Power Station (444 MW, started up in 1992) and coordinates the dispatch of energy from the various plants. The Marsa power plant (267 MW, commissioning in 1966) was shut down in 2014 and totally demolished two years later. The Malta–Sicily interconnector links the island with the Italian electricity network with a capacity of 200 MW since April 2015. A power plant in Floriana (1896 to 1960), a power plant in Corradino (1939 to 1992) and Station A in Marsa (1953 to 1993) were operated by Enemalta until their shutdown. Since Malta does not have its own resources, Enemalta relies entirely on imported fuels. In 2006 the two power plants of the Enemalta produced 2261189 MWh and released 0.8782 kg CO2 for every kilowatt hour generated. (en)
