- Η Δημοκρατία του Περού είναι προεδρική.Δικαίωμα ψήφου στις εκλογές έχουν όσες και όσοι είναι ηλικίας 18 ετών και άνω. Η ψηφοφορία είναι υποχρεωτική μέχρι την ηλικία των 70 ετών. Το 2006 ψήφισαν για πρώτη φορά και μέλη των Ενόπλων Δυνάμεων και της αστυνομίας. Εκλογές διεξάγονται για πρόεδρο και για κοινοβούλιο. Ο πρόεδρος εκλέγεται από το λαό για πενταετή θητεία. Το (Congreso) αριθμεί 130 μέλη, τα οποία εκλέγονται για πενταετή θητεία αναλογικά. (el)
- In Peru, the people directly elect a head of state (the president) as well as a legislature. The president is elected by the people for a five-year term. The unicameral Congress (Congreso) has 130 members, also elected for a five-year term by proportional representation. Peru has a multi-party system, which effectively bars one party from becoming the sole influence in a decision-making process. As such, parties must work with one another to form coalition governments.The whole election process is held by the National Jury of Elections and the National Office of Electoral Processes. - De verkiezingen in Peru bestaan uit parlements- en presidentsverkiezingen. Het mandaat van zowel de president van Peru als het Peruviaanse congres bestaat uit vijf jaar. Het Peruviaanse congres bestaat sinds de grondwet van 1993 uit een enkelvoudige kamer en telt 130 leden; voor 2011 waren dat er 120. Peru kent een meerpartijendemocratie, hoewel het tot in de recente geschiedenis ook dictaturen heeft gekend, waaronder in de jaren negentig van Alberto Fujimori. Hierdoor zijn partijen genoodzaakt om coalities te vormen. Het verkiezingsproces wordt in Peru georganiseerd en gecontroleerd door de Jurado Nacional de Elecciones (Nationale Verkiezingenjury) en de Oficina Nacional de Procesos Electorales (Nationaal Bureau van Verkiezingen).
