An Entity of Type: Thing, from Named Graph: http://dbpedia.org, within Data Space: dbpedia.org

Edward Hawkins Cheney CB (1778–1848) was a 19th century British soldier and hero of the Battle of Waterloo. His unique claim to fame was that he had five separate horses killed or wounded under him during the battle. His grave is said to be the only equestrian statue within a British church and is probably the only statue showing a dying horse in Britain. Although sometimes referred to as "Colonel" Cheney, his position at Waterloo was raised to Brevet (i.e. temporary) Colonel, and he reverted to Captain afterwards.
