- Diff-Quik is a commercial Romanowsky stain variant used to rapidly stain and differentiate a variety of pathology specimens. It is most frequently used for blood films and cytopathological smears, including fine needle aspirates. The Diff-Quik procedure is based on a modification of the Wright-Giemsa stain pioneered by Harleco in the 1970s, and has advantages over the routine Wright-Giemsa staining technique in that it reduces the 4-minute process into a much shorter operation and allows for selective increased eosinophilic or basophilic staining depending upon the time the smear is left in the staining solutions. There are generic brands of such stain, and the trade name is sometimes used loosely to refer to any such stain (much as "Coke" or "Band-Aid" are sometimes used imprecisely). (en)
- Diff-Quik es un variante comercial de la tinción de Romanowsky, usada para teñir y diferenciar rápidamente una gran variedad de muestras de patología. Es más comúnmente utilizado para teñir frotis de sangre y extensiones citopatológicas, incluyendo muestras obtenidas por . La técnica de Diff-Quik está basada en una modificación de la tinción de Wright-Giemsa, que fue patentada por la empresa Harleco en la década de los setenta. Las ventajas que ofrece sobre la tinción de Wright-Giemsa son que reduce drásticamente el tiempo del proceso que con Wright-Giemsa cuesta 4 minutos, y además permite una tinción más selectiva sobre los compuestos eosinófilos o basófilos, dependiendo del tiempo que se deje la muestra en cada reactivo. Hay diferentes casas comerciales que fabrican kits comerciales para realizar la técnica de Diff-Quick, sin embargo el nombre de "Diff-Quick" es usado generalmente para referirse a productos similares (de la misma manera que el nombre Coca-Cola es usado para referirse a cualquier tipo de bebida de cola). - ディフ・クイック染色（Diff-Quik stain™）は染色法のひとつで、血球形態検査に汎用されるの迅速簡易法である。全染色工程が1分前後と迅速性に秀でているためやの際に威力を発揮する。パパニコロウ染色が湿式固定（95%エタノールに浸漬）であるのに対して、ディフ・クイック染色はスメア標本を風乾してから染色直前に短時間固定する点が根本的に異なる。したがって患者から検体を採取する段階で、ディフ・クイック染色とパパニコロウ染色に用いるスライドグラスをそれぞれ用意する必要がある。 迅速性だけでなくギムザ染色の特性である繊細な核内構造の観察に優れ、乾燥標本のため核の大小不同や核形不整などが明瞭に観察される。また反応による酸性ムコ多糖の可視化や血球観察も可能である。乳腺、甲状腺、唾液腺の腫瘍性病変の診断には、パパニコロウ染色に勝るとも劣らない検査結果が得られる。日本ではパパニコロウ染色のみを細胞診に用いる場合が多いが、欧米では積極的にメイ・ギムザ染色が細胞診で利用されている。 (ja)
