- David Minasian is an American film producer, screenwriter, director, and a musician, singer and songwriter. Since the 1980s, he has worked for various motion picture production companies in the Los Angeles area as a freelance producer/director. In addition to his work on music videos and concert films for artists such as Three Dog Night, English progressive rock band Camel, Moody Blues frontman Justin Hayward and The Alan Parsons Project co-founder Alan Parsons, Minasian has produced and directed over 60 documentary films including The Passion Behind the Passion, a behind-the-scenes documentary filmed on location in Rome chronicling the making of Mel Gibson's controversial film The Passion of the Christ. Minasian is also a classically trained pianist. His symphonic rock album Random Acts of Beauty was released in 2010 to critical and public acclaim and features a rare guest appearance on the album's 12 minute opening track "Masquerade" by Camel guitarist Andrew Latimer. - David Minasian (Los Angeles) is een Amerikaans multi-instrumentalist. Daarnaast is hij ook filmmaker. Minasian begon zijn muzikale loopbaan toen hij vijf jaar oud was en achter de piano kroop. Op zijn vijftiende ging hij professioneel musiceren. Naast de piano speelt Minasian inmiddels alle muziekinstrumenten die benodigd zijn voor het zelf volspelen van een album. Hij kreeg onder meer studiotijd toebedeeld van het ooit populaire, dan weer vervloekte en vervolgens weer gewaardeerde duo , plaats van handeling San Fernando Valley. Net als de zeer zoetsappige muziek van genoemd duo viel hij met zijn muziek buiten de boot. Eerst was er de , vervolgens kwam punk en daarna de new wave. Na zelf wat muziek te hebben opgenomen, ging Minasian zich meer toeleggen op videoclips. Eerst voor zijn eigen muziek, maar later ook voor Three Dog Night (A Shot in the Dark). Zijn muziek begon ook op te vallen; hij mocht een album opnemen onder producent Patrick Moraz, die toen bij de Moody Blues speelde. Die band kreeg echter een onverwachte hit met en Moraz moest gaan toeren; Minasians album verdween op de plank. Zijn loopbaan pruttelde nog wat door toen hij in 1996 gevraagd werd de productie van de dvd te begeleiden. Hij bleef bij de band betrokken, ook gedurende de tijd dat Latimer langdurig lag te herstellen van een levertransplantatie. (nl)
