- Die Lokomotiven der Baureihe 250 waren schwere elektrische Lokomotiven der Deutschen Reichsbahn. Im Zuge der Harmonisierung der Baureihenbezeichnungen mit der Deutschen Bundesbahn erhielten sie zum 1. Januar 1992 die Baureihenbezeichnung 155. Unter dieser Bezeichnung war sie von 1994 bis 2019 bei der Deutschen Bahn AG im Einsatz, hauptsächlich zur Bespannung schwerer Güterzüge auf fast allen elektrifizierten Strecken Deutschlands. (de)

Loket har på grund av sitt utseende fått flera smeknamn, bland annat Electric Container och Powercontainer. Loktypen var den starkaste loktypen som byggdes i Östtyskland.
