- Cytochalasin D is a member of the class of mycotoxins known as cytochalasins. Cytochalasin D is an alkaloid produced by Helminthosporium and other molds. Cytochalasin D is a cell-permeable and potent inhibitor of actin polymerization. It disrupts actin microfilaments and activates the p53-dependent pathways causing arrest of the cell cycle at the G1-S transition. It is believed to bind to F-actin polymer and prevent polymerization of actin monomers. (en)
- La citocalasina D es un metabolito de origen fúngico capaz, como todas las , de unirse a filamentos de actina y, por ello, impedir su polimerización y elongación. Por ello, repercuten en la morfología celular e inhiben procesos celulares como la división celular, lo que deviene en algunos casos a su apoptosis (Haidle and Myers, 2004) Además, la citocalasina D inhibe la síntesis de proteínas (Ornelles et al., 1986).La citocalasina D impide la polimerización de filamentos de actina.
