- Postřižiny és una comèdia txecoslovaca de 1980 dirigida pel cineasta Jiří Menzel. Està basada en la novel·la homònima de l'escriptor txec Bohumil Hrabal. Va formar part de la secció de competició de la 38a edició del Festival Internacional de Cinema de Venècia, el 1981. És una evocació a les memòries d'infantesa de Hrabal al seu poble de Nymburk, dominat per la fàbrica de cervesa local. Els protagonistes de la pel·lícula, Maryška i l'oncle Pepin, estan inspirats en familiars reals de Hrabal. El personatge Maryška es basa en la seva mare i, l'oncle Pepin, en el seu oncle real, un sabater que es va presentar al poble per a restar-hi dues setmanes però que s'hi va acabar quedant per 40 anys. Les espontànies anècdotes i històries que l'oncle Pepin no es cansa d'explicar, van exercir una gran influència sobre l'obra literària de Hrabal. Film vypráví o pivovaru a rodině jeho správce (ve skutečnosti nevlastního otce Bohumila Hrabala) za první republiky. Sám Hrabal žil v pivovaru v Polné v letech 1915–1919 a poté v Nymburce, kde byl jeho nevlastní otec také správcem pivovaru. (cs)
- Cutting It Short (also released as Shortcuts) (Czech: Postřižiny) is a 1980 Czechoslovak comedy film directed by Jiří Menzel. It is based on the novel Postřižiny by Czech writer Bohumil Hrabal. The story is set in a brewery in a Czech small town. The film is an evocation of the childhood memories of Bohumil Hrabal in his provincial town of Nymburk, dominated by the local brewery. The main actors of the film, uncle Pepin and Maryška, are based on real family members of Hrabal: Maryška on his mother and uncle Pepin on his real uncle, who came to stay two weeks in the town but remained for forty years. His spontaneous stories influenced a lot of Hrabal's literary work. The film was entered into the main competition at the 38th edition of the Venice Film Festival. According to the film critic and historian Peter Hames, Cutting It Short, which frequently quotes or refers to silent comedy, is one of the best post-Tati comedies. Theodor Pištěk designed the costumes for the film. (en)
