- Delta endotoxins (δ-endotoxins) are pore-forming toxins produced by Bacillus thuringiensis species of bacteria. They are useful for their insecticidal action and are the primary toxin produced by Bt maize/corn. During spore formation the bacteria produce crystals of such proteins (hence the name Cry toxins) that are also known as parasporal bodies, next to the endospores; as a result some members are known as a parasporin. The Cyt (cytolytic) toxin group is a group of delta-endotoxins different from the Cry group. (en)
- BT剤（ビーティざい）とは、天敵微生物を利用した生物農薬（殺虫剤）の一種。細菌の一種であるバチルス・チューリンゲンシス（Bacillus thuringiensis; BT）を用いており、菌の産生する、胞子、両方が混合されたものがある。 チョウ目、ハエ目、コウチュウ目の幼虫に有効。結晶性タンパク質が、昆虫腸内のアルカリ性消化液で分解されると毒素になり、上皮細胞に作用、幼虫は卒倒病を起こして死ぬ。選択毒性のため、昆虫と体の構造が違うヒトは、胃液が酸性なので無害だが、菌株と試験方法によって動物試験で毒性を示すことがある[1]。そのためBT剤は、製造や販売などに対して毒性試験などを要求される登録薬剤とされている（特定農薬に指定されていない）が、有機農業の生産に利用可能な生物農薬である。 (ja)
- Le delta-endotossine (δ-endotossine) o tossine Bt, chiamate anche Cry e Cyt tossine, sono endotossine proteiche prodotte da alcuni ceppi del batterio Bacillus thuringiensis. Sono utili per la loro azione insetticida. Quando viene ingerito mediante vegetali contaminati, il batterio sporula nell'ospite liberando le delta-endotossine (innocue per l'essere umano, poiché occorre pH>9 che si trova invece nell'intestino degli insetti) che danneggiano il tratto digerente delle larve di Ditteri come le zanzare o causando nei bruchi di molti Lepidotteri una malattia paralitica. Le delta-endotossine sono contenute all'interno di cristalli che si dissolvono in particolari condizioni presenti a livello intestinale di alcuni insetti. Al fine di favorire la solubilizzazione del cristallo il pH deve essere alcalino (pH >9). Le delta-endotossine sono estremamente specifiche ed interagiscono con l'intestino di determinate specie d'insetti. (it)
