- Copyzero is a mechanism of protection of works by means of a qualified digital signature and a time mark. This mechanism lies in converting the work into digital format and appending the digital signature (which characterizes the author of the work) and a time mark (which indicates the existence of the work since given time) to the file. In the Italian legal system, the digital signature has the same probative value as a certificate of SIAE (Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori, Italian society of authors and publishers) but a cost much smaller (0,36 Euro, cost of one time mark, rather than corresponding 110 euro for renewal of the certificate every 5 years). The duration of a time mark is 4 years: in order to extend the period of validity it is sufficient to append a new time mark to the marked file before the old time mark expires. However, the expired mark can be rightfully used in a court ruling up to 10 years from the date it was appended. The instruments used by Copyzero are the device of a qualified digital signature (a smart card obtainable at certification authorities like e.g. the Chamber of Commerce) and the corresponding reader (for sale at computer stores). - Copyzero è un progetto promosso dal Movimento Costozero, un'associazione senza scopo di lucro che si batte per la gratuità del diritto alla comunicazione.Lo scopo di Copyzero è quello di tutelare il diritto d'autore (copyright), l'open content e soprattutto il permesso d'autore (copyleft) a costo zero; un'idea interamente italiana, che nasce a Milano per poi diffondersi rapidamente in tutto il Web. Copyzero è un meccanismo di tutela delle opere dell'ingegno che opera attraverso l'utilizzo della firma elettronica qualificata e della marca temporale. Quest'ultima in particolare permette di ottenere la prova della creazione di una determinata opera e quindi di poter stabilire un ordine cronologico con le altre e può essere fatta valere in giudizio fino a 20 anni dalla data della sua emissione. La firma elettronica invece individua l'autore dell'opera e ne tutela i diritti patrimoniali e morali. È inoltre economicamente conveniente in quanto la certificazione presso SIAE risulta decisamente più costosa. (it)

Механизм заключается в преобразовании работы в цифровой формат, добавления цифровой подписи (что характеризует автора работы) и времени (что указывает на наличие работ с учетом времени) . В итальянской правовой системе цифровая подпись имеет такую же доказательную силу, как и сертификат из SIAE (Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori, Italian society of authors and publishers), но стоит намного меньше (0,36 Евро, против 110 евро в SIAE). Срок действия отметки — раз в 4 года: для продления срока действия достаточно добавить новую метку времени для отмеченного файла, прежде чем старый срок истечет. Однако, истек срок действия знака может быть продлен в суде до 10 лет. Инструменты, используемые в Copyzero для цифровой подписи - смарт-карта (приобретается в органах сертификации) и соответствующее устройство считывания (продается в компьютерных магазинах). При использовании интернета знак получается следующим образом: произведение преобразуется в цифровой формат, сжимается в защищенный паролем архив и направляется непосредственно в сайт copyzero.org, вместе с заполненной формой и документом, удостоверяющим личность.
