- Der Col du Parpaillon ist ein Gebirgspass in den französischen Alpen. Eine nicht asphaltierte Naturstraße verbindet La Condamine-Châtelard, das sich im Tal der Ubaye im Département Alpes-de-Haute-Provence befindet, mit der Gemeinde Crévoux im Département Hautes-Alpes. Die eigentliche Passhöhe befindet sich in 2780 Metern Seehöhe. Diese kann jedoch nicht angefahren werden, da unter dem Passscheitel ein 520 Meter langer Tunnel in 2637 Metern Höhe die Südostrampe mit der Nordwestrampe verbindet. Die Erbauung der hochalpinen Strecke durch französische Genietruppen begann im Jahre 1891 und fand aufgrund der widrigen hochalpinen Verhältnisse sowie der Schwierigkeiten beim Bau des für damalige Verhältnisse sehr langen Scheiteltunnels erst nach 20 Jahren im Sommer 1911 ihren Abschluss. Da parallel die gut ausgebaute Straße über den Col de Vars führt, wird er heute fast ausnahmslos von Touristen und lokalen Schäfern benutzt. (de)
- The Col du Parpaillon is a pass in the Cottian Alps of southern France in the Parpaillon massif. It connects La Condamine-Châtelard, the Ubaye Valley in Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department with Crévoux, Embrun in Hautes-Alpes. The crest of the pass rises to 2,780 metres (9,120 ft). The Parpaillon Tunnel is located below the pass at an elevation of 2,637 metres (8,652 ft). It was built by the French Army starting in 1891, with work on the road and tunnel lasting until 1911, although the tunnel was completed in 1901. The arched tunnel is 520 metres (1,710 ft) in length. It is closed at either end with metal doors. The approach road is not paved and is closed in winter. The curved tunnel is among the highest in Europe. The location was considered a strategic point as early as the 18th century. From 1692 to 1694, work proceeded on a military road suitable for artillery, at the urging of General d'Usson. The 19th century military road connects the Fort de Tournoux complex of fortifications to Embrun and points north. Luc Moullet's 1992 film Parpaillon describes a bicycle journey over the pass. (en)

- De Col du Parpaillon is een 2780 meter hoge bergpas in de Franse Alpen die de verbinding vormt tussen La Condamine-Châtelard en Crévoux. De pashoogte vormt de grens tussen de departementen Hautes-Alpes en Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. De pashoogte is van beide zijden te bereiken over een met keien bezaaide, zeer moeilijk berijdbare weg. Op een hoogte van 2637 meter voert een tunnel onder de daadwerkelijke pas. Deze moet voorzichtig doorgestoken worden aangezien er vaak flink water en zelfs ijs in staat, zelfs ook midden in de zomer. De tunnel is in de 19de eeuw om militaire redenen aangelegd.Aan beide ingangen zijn poorten aangebracht die soms gesloten worden. (te veel water, ijs etc...)Ook kan na hevige regenval de noordelijke toegangsweg worden afgesloten wegens de dan extreem gevaarlijke, glibberige ondergrond. (nl)
- Il Colle del Parpaillon (2.783 m s.l.m. - in francese Col du Parpaillon) è un valico alpino francese situato nelle Alpi Cozie francesi e che collega la Valle dell'Ubaye ed il circondario di Embrun. Unisce il dipartimento delle Alpi dell'Alta Provenza con quello delle Alte Alpi. È possibile raggiungerlo attraverso una strada sterrata. Appena sotto il colle, tra i 2.637 ed i 2.645 m, si trova il tunnel del Parpaillon costruito dall'esercito francese a partire dal 1891 ed i cui lavori durarono parecchi anni. Lungo 500 metri, da qualche anno si può transitare ed è molto utilizzata d'estate da fuoristradisti in auto e moto nonché quad. La strada che conduce al colle è stata costruita dal genio militare tra il 1891 ed il 1911. Già nel XVIII secolo il colle era considerato strategico dal punto di vista militare. (it)
