Smith dat goede auto's en 5-, 6- en 8 pk motorfietsen met Stevens-zijklepmotor bouwde. De beide neven huurden een werkplaats in Thrapston waar ze verstelbare riempoelies voor de aandrijving van motorfietsen gingen produceren.
