- Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi (Punjabi, Urdu: چوہدری پرویز الٰہی; born 1 November 1945) is a Pakistani politician from a Punjabi Jatt family. who is the President of Pakistan Muslim League (Q) a conservative centrist to centre-right-nationalist party & the 19th current Chief Minister of Punjab, in office since 27 July 2022. He has been a member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab since August 2018. He served as the first and only Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2013. After a successful campaign in the 2002 general elections, he became the Chief Minister of Punjab and held this position until 2007. In 2008, he served as the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly of Pakistan for short time. He was a member of the National Assembly from 2008 to May 2018. He has also been the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly of Punjab from 2018 to 2022. He is the president of the Punjab Division of Pakistan Muslim League (Q). (en)

Membre de la Ligue musulmane du Pakistan (Q), il dispose d'un rôle important dans le parti dont son cousin Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain est le président. Alors que la ligue est au pouvoir, Elahi est ministre en chef de la province du Pendjab de 2002 à 2007 et depuis 2022. Entré en politique dans les années 1980 tout comme son cousin, Elahi a été élu sept fois député provincial au cours de sa carrière, et deux fois député fédéral. Il a successivement occupé les postes de ministre local du Pendjab, président de l'Assemblée provinciale du Pendjab, ministre en chef du Pendjab, ministre fédéral de l'industrie, et enfin vice-Premier ministre. Ancien allié de Nawaz Sharif, il est ensuite devenu un proche du président Pervez Musharraf puis s'est allié avec Imran Khan en 2018. (fr)
